Ardent Oil is pleased to announce it has been awarded two more exploration blocks in the Southern North Sea under the 28th Offshore Licencing Round as announced by the UK Oil and Gas Authority on 27th June 2015 being Blocks 37/26 & 37/27 with 100% licence interest.
The UK Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) has announced further awards under the 28th Offshore Round of Licencing. Ardent Oil has been successful in being offered two more blocks in the Southern North Sea. These latest awards were deferred by the OGA after the initial awards pending completion of further environmental assessment of the blocks concerned.
The latest 28th Round awards to Ardent Oil are Blocks 37/26 & 37/27 to be awarded on a promote licence basis with 100% licence interest. This complements the earlier 28th Round awards to Ardent Oil in November 2015 being Blocks 37/28a & 37/29a and Blocks 43/03a & 43/04a.
Martin Whitehead, Executive Director commented.." we are delighted by these new 28th Round awards which has increased Ardent Oil's acreage in the Southern North Sea to six blocks or part blocks. This enhances our capability to perform further regional and block specific technical work with the objective of reducing the risk on the gas leads and prospects we have mapped. This acreage is in an underexplored northern part of the Southern Gas Basin where there is the possibility of geological structures that could hold large gas reserves."
